MARK THE TOP OF THE CURTAIN
You will almost certainly be working on sections of the curtain at a time as demonstrated in these videos.
- Lay the face fabric out wrong side up.
- Clamp to the table along the bottom or use weights to hold the curtain in place.
- Smooth the curtain out.
- Mark the finished length of the curtain at the top.
- Fold over and press.

WORK ON ANY OTHER SECTION(S)
- Move the curtain over on the table
- Finish marking the top and folding over until you have completed the whole top of the curtain.

LAY ON THE LINING
- Lay the lining on the fabric.
- Lining wrong side down so the fabric and lining are touching wrong side to wrong side.
- If possible align the fabric and lining seams.
- Position the bottom of the lining so it sits 2cm up from the bottom of the fabric.
- Smooth the lining out and check the lining is covering at least to each side of the fabric.
- Trim away any excess lining so it is in line with the side of the fabric.
- Working on the first side, fold the lining under so it is 2cm in from the side of the fabric edge.
- Finger press and pin.

STITCH THE LINING TO THE FABRIC
- Starting at the curtain top, slip stitch the lining edge to the fabric.
- At the bottom corner continue the slip stitch along the bottom for approx 15cm (until the end of the fabric bulk from the mitred corner).

PREPARE THE HEADING
- Fold the lining back at the top just below the tacking line on the fabric that marks the top of the curtain.
- Cut along the fold line.
- Trim the face fabric above the "top tack line" so that it is approx 2cm less than the depth of your pencil pleat heading tape. (The fabric raw edge will be behind the tape when it is attached).
- Fold the fabric over along the "top tack line".
- Tuck the side edge under to form a mock mitre at the corner and pin.
- Stitch the mitre closed along the diagonal (up and down).
- Tack stitch the heading before moving the curtain.

ALONG THE HEM DAISY CHAIN STITCH THE LINING TO THE FABRIC
Every half width daisy chain stitch the lining hem to the fabric hem. Make the chains approx 12 knots/stitches long.

FINISH THE OTHER SIDE
- Move the curtain over to work on the next (other) section.
- Smooth the layers flat.
- Work on the lining.
- Fold over the lining at the top (just below the fabric "curtain top tack line") and trim.
- Trim away any excess lining so it is in line with the side of the fabric.
- Fold the lining under so it is 2cm in from the side of the fabric edge.
- Finger press and pin.
- Slip stitch the lining edge to the fabric.
- At the bottom corner continue the slip stitch along the bottom for approx 15cm (until the end of the fabric bulk from the mitred corner).
- If required add daisy chain stitches to the hem in this section.
- Fold the fabric over at the top along the "curtain top tack line" and pin.
- Trim away any excess fabric as before.
- Fold in and press a mitre for this top corner.
- Stitch the mitre closed
- Continue the tacking stitch along the heading.
